At Pashupatinath's door
A morning queue, bare feet, flowers in a red basket. Everything I asked for that day was already standing right beside me.

Today belongs to you, dear
Today there is fasting, and red, and the sound of bangles — and above all of it, there is you.
Our story
A morning queue, bare feet, flowers in a red basket. Everything I asked for that day was already standing right beside me.
All of Kathmandu below us, the two of us above it. Three years of waiting ended inside one photograph, khadoos.
A steep climb, slippery ground, a walking stick in your hand. Even tired, you kept laughing, khimu.
Sunlight came through the window, and you put flowers in my hands. The gift was never the flowers. The gift was you.
A letter
My Kumari,
Today you went hungry for me.
You never had to, khadoos. You do not have to earn a single day of my love. But you did it anyway — and that is exactly who you are.
We waited three years. Then one July morning I stood barefoot at Pashupatinath, and by that afternoon you were next to me again. Since then: a hill above Kathmandu, a slippery trail to Dupcheshwor, flowers in your hands on my birthday.
May your bangles never fall quiet. May your fast be light and your evening full. And may every Teej after this one find us closer than the last.
Always yours
